Our lives are filled with moments that define us.
It was 11 years ago since I was hit by a car that pushed me into a big glass window of a shop. I was pregnant with my 3rd baby then and seeing my right leg twisted 180 degrees and being in the excruciating pain I was in – I would never wish that upon anyone at all.
For me, 10 December 2010 will forever be the defining moment of my life. The day I earned the title ‘Car Accident Survivor’.
After the accident, I went through depression, PTSD & I was filled with a lot of guilt as a mom. I went on a long journey of self-discovery – I was obsessed with 1 big question: Why was I given a second chance at life?
Today, the Zoe you know is not the same Zoe you knew 11 years ago.
I cherished every single moment that I have with my loved ones. I want to live my life in the moment. I want to be able to appreciate what’s in the moment…whether it’s good or bad.
Having gone through the accident and being a survivor, I really have a whole new appreciation for life. And somehow, the meaning of my name Zoe in Greek also means full of life. I thank God everyday for His protection for giving me this second chance.
For a long time, I didn’t really know what’s the point of sharing my story. But today I want you to know why do I share my story.
I want you to know that all of us are stronger than we give ourselves credits for. “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger!” Cherish your loved ones and live in the moment. Life is short and life is fragile.
I know everything I have gone through is so that I can continue to give. I want to be able to give and love unconditionally. Relationships mean the world to me.
If you were to ask me how do I want to be remembered? I want to be remembered as the person who has been kind, patient, generous, loving, thoughtful, and someone who enjoys making people laugh.
Above all, I want to be that someone who has made a difference in one’s life.
“We give to inspire so others will be inspired to give too.”
