My first book launch party for my new book Sleep Baby Sleep! has come and gone. It felt like a dream. But it was a dream come true as I have never once pictured myself as an author and yet here I am.
I was joking with my friends, it felt like I was planning for my wedding and my experienced author buddy and my dear friend, Michelle Hon aka The Chill Mom who also had her own book launch party said to me, “Yes it is a bit like your own wedding except no husband to take some of the attention away.” And oh if you love what we wore, I just want to say special thanks to Amanda for sponsoring our outfits of the day. The colour of my dress really complements my book cover so well, don’t you think? It was meant to be. 🙂
Michelle was also my lovely emcee for the event. I am so blessed to have her in my life.
I am truly and eternally grateful for all the sponsors and help I have received on the day. Sleep Baby Sleep Book would never have been launched successfully without the generosity of the sponsors I have met over the years and even some I have just met recently.
Sleep Baby Sleep: Sleep Supernanny’s 5 Simple Steps To A Better Night’s sleep for you and your baby book launch party was held at Qiren Organisation in Jurong East and the place was just so cool and AMAZING! It even has an indoor playground for kids to play next door to our hall.
For clients of Qiren, you will get to use their facilities for free. I am even tempted to sign up with them just so I can host my kids’ birthday party there for FREE.
I am really honored to have the presence of my loving and supportive family, my close friends, loyal business partners and my awesome clients who have now become my friends too.
My two lovely friends Santy and Amanda aka my badminton buddies – who kindly helped me to welcome my guests – young and old on the day.
My youngest son, Callum helped me out too by selling my books on that day. I got very good feedback from buyers about his selling skills. He greeted everyone who came through the door asking, “Hello! Have you bought my mommy’s book?” Haha, I did not teach him that. I was pleasantly surprised by his great selling skills…definitely has the potential to help mommy out in the family business next time.
My husband took the day off from work to be there for me and our 4 kids. Our youngest one Alyssa clung on to him like a glue even as he tried to give his speech.
He did it beautifully and he even attempted to break into a song! Everyone laughed but little did they know if you give my husband a microphone he will sing his hearts out – he’s a KTV fan actually.
P/s- In case it wasn’t obvious to you from the photos..my daughter is definitely a daddy’s girl!
My everything all in one picture.
Justin shared about the sacrifices I made to write this book – mostly the couple time we have sacrificed. Usually at nights, we would chat or we would watch tv shows such as Parenthood, Grey’s Anatomy and House of Cards together but I gave that up – our entertainment time together to publish my first book on sleep training! I guess it’s time to make it up to him now that my book is officially published and distributed in bookstores in Singapore and Malaysia! Thank you darling for your sacrifices and for the lovely heartfelt speech. Without your love and support, I would never have the courage to pursue my dreams.
I spoke about my journey of how I became SG Supernanny, Baby and Child Sleep Expert and why I wrote this book Sleep Baby Sleep! I shared about how I went from being a sleep deprived mommy of twins – mommy zombie to now a baby sleep consultant and a well rested mommy of 4 helping other families get back their well deserved sleep.
My mission is not driven by sales, money or even fame. But rather I truly and sincerely want to empower more families around the world to foster healthy sleep habits so that they too can enjoy well rested nights just like I did with my family. I vividly remembered every single whatsapp, email and phone call from my clients thanking me about the wonderful transformation of how my sleep system helped get their family precious sleep again. The reason why I wrote this book is because I realized me on my own I could never spread my message easily but I hope with my book it will make a huge difference.
Very happy to see happy faces in the audience!
My parents and my eldest sister were there too to celebrate my achievement and I hope I have made them proud that day.
My precious twins Brayden and Dylan also gave a speech and they shared with the crowd about how they inspired me to become SG Supernanny because of their reluctance to sleep and how proud they were of mommy’s achievements. They even joked about how they were sacrificing their time to be there for me as they were in the midst of PSLE! Mommy is so proud of you two for your short and yet the sweetest speech ever! I love you two so much! I guess I really must thank you both for refusing to sleep when you were babies! Otherwise mommy wouldn’t become SG Supernanny!
The event was also very special to me because my two awesome clients Karen and Rebecca shared about their lives before and after meeting me and how amazing their transformation was after joining my baby sleep program. They shared about how grateful they were for my help and guidance. I am truly humbled and touched by their kind words and the truth is without their trust and the rest of my clients, there wouldn’t be SG Supernanny.
They both shared very entertaining and funny stories about their experience which explained our amused facial expressions. I have posted videos of their sharing on my YouTube channel too if you are curious about what they shared. 🙂
Thank you Rebecca and Karen for making a huge effort to be there at my book launch despite you guys not feeling 100%! Hope your well rested nights will help you recover sooner!
Time to introduce to you guys some of my good friends who attended my book launch party.
Jenny is the founder of SGBabyClub and LadiesClubSG – we met at Michelle’s book launch party a few months ago and she’s an inspirational and selfless mompreneur who has a big heart for the people. She connected me to a few sponsors for the book launch party. Really thankful to meet a kind-hearted person like her. Kenneth is my author buddy of Mother Industrialist whose mission is to empower other mothers out there to be momprenuers and guess what? I also met him at Michelle’s book launch party. Shub is a mommy of 2 and the wonderful blogger behind Rainbowdiaries.com and we had the instant connection when we met also at Michelle’s book launch party. She said she wished she knew about me earlier when she had her babies. Wow, Michelle – I think I need to shout you a big meal for connecting me to all these awesome people.
So blessed to have my good friends from university days Kat, Juli and Su Yin to come and support me as well. We have known each other for more than 2 decades now! Gosh time really flies!
My super awesome clients from L-R (Tze Teng, Brenda, Karen and Rebecca). So thankful for their presence and support at my book launch party. In fact they are more like friends to me now, so glad to see them bonding together at the party. I think I need to create a club for all these sleep revived mommies so we can all celebrate together the revival of restored sleep in the household and you know just to keep in touch! If you can think of a cool name for the club, do let me know.
Quite a surreal feeling to be signing my own books, I have gotten other authors to sign books I have bought but I have never been the one doing it for others.
My good friend Charmaine with her baby Khloe – so apt that her baby was sleeping so soundly at my Sleep Baby Sleep book launch party – I am pretty sure my book is filled with sleepy dust too! 😉
Complimentary massages for the tired parents provided by LifeSpa. Everyone including me love the neck and shoulder massages especially after a long week!
Sarah from Alobaby and her lovely team were also at my event to share about their amazing baby products to my guests. They sponsored some goodies and a lucky draw prize as well.
I met Rachel, the founder of Sweetest Moments just a few days before my event through Jenny and even though I have only just met her, she was more than happy to sponsor her lovely cupcakes for my party. The mini cupcakes were oh so cute and so delicious.
And I also got my husband, Dr Justin and also the director of Pure NZ Dental to sponsor the grand lucky draw prize worth $700 of dental check up and clean for the entire family. And the lucky winner was one of my favourite clients, Brenda who is also an amazing mother of 3 kids!
Everyone who came get to go home with awesome goodie bags filled with products and discount vouchers from all the brands who sponsored the party. Special thanks to Qiren, Nestle, Drypers, Alobabysg, Wakodosg, Pure NZ Dental, Vitayes, Amanda for making my event a reality. All my guests love their goodie bags!
Glad to see everyone enjoyed themselves including the kids! Thanks guys for making my dream a reality! Love you all!
